How to pray in a better way

How to pray in a better way

Prayer is an important way for Christians to establish a normal relationship with God. This relationship is especially relevant during the morning and evening. For this reason, it is vital to understand how to pray correctly. However, many brothers and sisters are perplexed because we pray every morning and evening.

We also pray before we eat and after we finish eating, and when we have meetings. Furthermore, every time we pray, we say a lot to the Lord and pray for a long time. Even though, we might feel like God is not there.

Frequently, prayer is seen as an immediate solution, but some believe that God will not hear or answer our prayer if we do not precisely say the right things or pray in the proper position. This is entirely unbiblical. God does not answer our prayers based on when we pray, where we are, what bodily position we adopt, or what order we say our prayers.

Matthew 6: 7 - 8

And in your prayer, do not make use of the same words again and again, as the Gentiles do: for they have the idea that God will give attention to them because of the number of their words. So be not like them; because your Father knows your needs even before you make your requests to Him.

Your prayer should be a dialogue with the Lord out of love, not out of sheer convenience, not to see what you get out of it.

How to improve your prayer

There is no unique way to pray, but there are some recommendations that you can consider. Here we share some advice.

  • Have an adequate space

To pray during the day, you can dedicate to meet God in the right place. Try to get up earlier, apart a moment to pray, and meditate on God's Word. Waking up early is a healthy, even productive habit that allows a daily portion of God's Word to help you throughout the day.

  • Pray in Faith

God can hear every single prayer we make even before we ask Him. You must always have your trust in the Lord. Do not pray to fulfill a ritual but with your whole heart poured out in prayer.

Eliminate distractions when you are about to pray: It is recommended that every time you go to pray, you remove from the room all the distractions that you have, such as electronic devices, magazines, etc., so that you can concentrate as much as possible on what you are doing.

  • Be thankful

As you pray, thank God for what He does explicitly in your life. He is with you in every moment so you should Him for everything. You can remember that not only the good that He made you happy but also the bad because He allowed it for something: perhaps to make you grow in humility, patience, or understanding.

  • Do not pray only for your needs.

When you go to pray, do it for yourself and your family, friends, and society in general because you have to be grateful to everyone. Do it because it is one of the best steps to pray effectively.

John 14:13

And whatever request you make in my name, that I will do, so that the Father may have glory in the Son.
